Almost two days down with the Food Stamp Challenge. More challenging than I thought to eat on less than $5 dollars a day. Oatmeal for breakfast and pbj sandwiches for lunch helps me have a slightly better dinner at night. Had to really cut out most fresh fruits and veggies for the week. Did get a bag of tangerines which allows 2 each day. Missing my daily coffee run but have realized the money I spend on coffee and bottled water can be better spent (or saved!). Jealous of what my kids are eating and how they have no idea of what it means to go hungry (even for a short time).

It is terrible that food prices continue to rise, but pensions, Social Security payments and salaries remain the same. It is surprising that more people aren’t forced to rely on food stamps.
