Help Feed Hungry Children in Cleveland This Summer

This summer, volunteer with the Federation’s Jewish Volunteer Network (JVN) and the Children’s Hunger Alliance to serve free, nutritious lunches to children in the city of Cleveland from June 13 – August 5.  The children rely on free or reduced-fee breakfasts and lunches throughout the school year, and in the summer they greatly depend on this program.  Last year, volunteers served approximately 17,500 meals in 8 weeks.

Lunches are served Monday through Friday, 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at various Cleveland Public Library sites.  Commit to the dates of your choice.  In addition to serving meals, opportunities will be available to play games, do puzzles and read with the children.

Volunteers must be 18 years old unless accompanied by an adult.  Training is required and provided. Space is limited.

Training dates:

  • Tuesday, May 31, 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.
    Jewish Federation of Cleveland, Mandel Building (25701 Science Park Dr., Beachwood)
  • Monday, June 6, 9:00 – 10:30 a.m.
    The Park Synagogue East (27500 Shaker Blvd., Pepper Pike)

  1. Currently, I am volunteering in the Collinwood Area Library, where they feed lunches to between 18 to 30 children five days a week and I find it very rewarding.
