Hi Everyone!

The Cleveland Birthright trip has been amazing! It’s only the third full day here and the group (many of which traveled alone not knowing anyone prior) has meshed and bonded quickly – it’s been really great watching so many friendships form. Today we travelled to our Partnership region of Beit Shean. We were greeted with the words “Welcome Home” by Lior, Dror and Tomer (Lior was wearing his “CleveLAND that I Love t-shirt) for a morning bike ride through Beit Shean’s Spring Park. We saw the beautiful land and the kibbutz farm.

We then split into groups to spend some time at three homes – we were hosted by people from Ethiopia, Egypt and Iraq. The homes were lovely and the hospitality and warmth was incredible. I was with the Ethiopian family. They shared their journey to Israel, the group asked questions and engaged in great conversation and we ate delicious food. ImageRabbi and Lifsa Schachter from B’nai Jeshurun in Cleveland were also there visiting. A few participants knew the Rabbi since their Bar Mitzvah. It was nice for them to have someone from home with them here. All three groups spoke about their experiences on the bus ride afterward – it was definitely a trip highlight and very meaningful to all.

The next adventure was bird watching with Lior, Dror and Tomer. With binoculars in hand , we toured and saw a variety of birds and sites, all along the Jordanian border. It was such a great day, filled with great energy and much appreciation from all. We drove to Jerusalem tonight and will be here the next few days. ImageAt dinner, Eric Samuels, a participant of Masa and I Connect, who attended a Birthright trip a few years ago, joined us to speak about his experiences and studies in Israel and the opportunities available to those interested.

Looking forward to sharing more in the coming days!! Eight soldiers will be joining our group tomorrow for the duration of the trip. I’ve received amazing feedback so far – it appears that this experience has already exceeded so many expectations!

I hope all of you are well.
